Banana strawberry compote Recipe Gluten-free, dairy-free (casein-free), hypotoxic and vegan.
PORTIONS: 1,25 L (5 CUPS)
ORGANIC INGREDIENTS
- Juice of 1/2 lemon, freshly squeezed
- 4 ripe bananas, sliced into disks
- 4 apples, peeled and sliced
- 4 pears, peeled and sliced
- 400 g (3 cups) strawberries, fresh or frozen
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) water
- 2,5 ml (1/2 tsp) powdered agar-agar
PREPARATION
- In a large pan, combine the lemon juice with the bananas. Add the apples, pears, strawberries, and water.
- Bring to a boil while stirring frequently, then cover and cook on medium-low for 20 minutes.
- Remove lid and simmer for 10 more minutes, stirring frequently.
- Add the agar-agar, mix well, and cook for 2 minutes.
- Puree the mixture in a blender.
- Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
The bananas naturally sweeten this tasty compote while the strawberries give it a most appetizing color. Children love it... as do adults!
TIP
If you have a bread machine that has the jam function, simply place all the ingredients except the water in the container (because this cooking method does not require water) and start the cycle. You will only have to puree in the blender once the cycle is finished.
